Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce Hotel (Bruges)

Just got back from a weekend in Bruges (Belgium). Bruges is lovely and I’d definitely go back.

We stayed at the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce hotel, it’s the hotel used in the film ‘In Bruges’, which is the main reason we chose that hotel (that and TripAdvisor rates it highly)

First off, the hotel is in an awesome location, one of the best in Bruges, and the staff are friendly, professional and give a very personal service (for example, one night we ordered a night cap, Talisker whisky for me, and a G&T for the young lady, the next night, we fancied the same thing, I called room service, the chap remembered my order from the previous night, and all I had to do was confirm it. Classy.)

Everything in the hotel (and Bruges) is expensive, but that’s mainly due to the very weak pound at the moment, it’s worth about the same as Monopoly money, maybe a little less, for readers in the Euro zone, this may not be an issue.

For a couple of the mornings, we paid to have the hotel breakfast, which although expensive, does include champagne, which was nice. Until this point, I’d never really considered the benefits of morning drinking, why wait until the evening to take the edge off when you can start right away! The Belgians have got this sorted, they follow it up with strong tasty beers for lunch, a good plan, you never need to be sober again!

The only slight issue with the hotel is the bathroom in the room, it’s not terrible, it’s just not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel, which is exceptional.

We never used the restaurant (which is not in the hotel, but a short walk away) so I can’t comment on that, but I’d assume it’s pretty good.

If you are going to Bruges (and you should), stay in this hotel, it’s well worth the money.
