Just been trying Playback from Yazsoft, it’s very good, and they are pretty much giving it away at £11 (around $18?).

I had a small amount of unreliability at first, but it seems fine now, I was also fiddling with ‘Rivet’ (seems a bit slow at generating thumbnails) at the time, so that may have been the problem, also, restarting my PS3 solved it, I never had to restart Playback.

You can stream music, but the best thing is the photo streaming, I’m never going to be bother copying them to my PS3, but I can see them on the big screen with no trouble at all now. As a side note, I saw the new ‘Photo Album’ on the PS3 for the first time today… bloody hell… Apple needs to check this out and poach the programmers for the next iPhoto.

It can also stream movies, which also seems to work perfectly, even over wifi, but I’ve not used this much yet, so don’t take my word for it.

I’ll keep on evaluating, but so far, I’m mighty impressed.
