Kindle Oddity

I generally like my Kindle, but it’s a little odd…

One of the things you can do with a Kindle is go a position in a book, much like a page number. I wanted to do this quite recently, so I went to tap the number in using the keyboard, then realized, it doesn’t have a row of numbers, at all…

There is plenty of room for a row of numbers, in fact, there is a large gap where one would expect to find it, but it’s just not there.

Am I missing something? If I was creating a device where numerical entry was required, I’d be sure to include numbers as part of my keyboard, rather than enter them with an onscreen UI using the cursor keys, remember, the kindle ain’t got a touch screen.

Even odder, the old Kindle DID have the numbers, they actively removed them! Check it out…

New one… (plenty of room for it)

Old one… (Bad pic, but you can make them out.)

I’m not enraged by it or anything, just confused as to why a useful, and required row of numbers was removed… Anyone?
